There is no out and out favourite for this market whereas it would have been Rooney under normal circumstances as he has been our most consistent goal scorer for a number of ears now but with his ban from the first 2 games due to a sending off in his last game for England it will mean that he has a lot less matches to score his goals in.
The main question affecting this bet will be how far will England go in the tournament - there is so little expectation for a good England performance for the first time ever and most do not think we have much of a chance in this tournament following the dismal displays in the last world cup as well as that suspension of Rooney and the injuries to key players like Lampard which will impact the team. I think they will get through the group stage but they will then probably play either Spain or Italy in the next round and I think that could be their last game in this tournament so Rooney may only have 2 games to play in.
There are a few other contenders to play up front and its fairly open in the bettring but I think that Hodgson will go with Carroll up front as his first option due to his excellent end to the Premiership season.
Obviously if England do managee to get to the final then Rooneys chances of being top scorer improve but I cant see us gettign past the quarter final.
